Emergencies and accidents can happen to our pets at any time. When your loved one needs urgent veterinary attention, you want to make sure he or she receives the best possible care. Heritage Veterinary Hospital is equipped to provide emergency medical, diagnostic and surgical care any time during our normal office hours.
Our team of Dr. Trussell, technicians and assistants are ready, willing and able to step in at a moment’s notice. We’re prepared to handle even the most critical of situations, working toward the best possible outcome for your pet.
Signs of a potential pet emergency include:
- Ingestion of a foreign object or toxic substance
- Difficulty breathing
- Severe vomiting or diarrhea
- Swollen or tender abdomen
- Difficulty urinating
- Cuts, lacerations or puncture wounds
- Fractures or broken bones
- Trauma, such as being hit by a car
- Convulsions / Seizures
If any of these things occurs during our normal office hours, we recommend calling or texting us right away. This allows us to determine the severity of the situation and advise you on what we feel your next step should be. It also allows us to prepare our team and our facility for your pet’s arrival. Should the nature of your pet’s emergency not provide time for a phone call or text, please don’t hesitate to come directly to the hospital for immediate attention.
For emergencies that occur when our office is closed, we work closely with a local 24-hour emergency clinic, whom we trust to deliver the exceptional care your pet deserves. For after-hours emergencies, please contact the following:
